On September 7, 2018, the 16th Annual Conference of the Federation of Investment Promotion Agencies of China & International Investment of Promotion Seminar with the theme of New Trends, New Concepts and New Models was held in Xiamen. Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Wang Shouwen attended the seminar and delivered a speech. Other attendees were the Chairman of the China Council for International Investment Promotion Ma Xiuhong, Vice Mayor of Xiamen Meng Qian, Director of the Department of Investment, Trade and Innovation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Bernardo Calzadilla-Sarmiento, Director of the Division on Investment and Enterprise of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Zhan Xiaoning, and the CEO of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies Bostjan Skalar.

Wang Shouwen said that the world economy at present is undergoing unprecedented changes, and international investment is facing new risks and holding new opportunities. A new round of revolution and transformation in science, technology and industry is gaining momentum. At the same time, protectionism is rising in some countries and the growth momentum of transnational investment has been hampered. Facing the complicated situation, China unswervingly insists on the basic state policy of opening up, puts equal emphasis on “bringing in” and “going out,” continuously optimizes investment environment and maintains a good development momentum in foreign investment attraction and outbound investment. China will continue to promote high-level opening up and achieve high-quality economic development.

The conference was co-hosted by the China Council for International Investment Promotion, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. Attending were about 150 representatives from provincial investment promotion agencies, departments of commerce and economic and technological development areas, investment promotion agencies of the pilot free trade zones, enterprises, investment organizations, chambers of commerce and academic research institutes. The guests exchanged ideas on the new features and trends of transnational investment and the advanced experiences and models of investment promotion in different countries.
