Vice Minister Wang Shouwen Attends the Business Forum Hosted by Argentina

On December 12, Argentina’s Ministry of Production hosted a business forum in Buenos Aires during the MC11. Vice Minister Wang Shouwen attended the forum and made a speech. Argentina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Faurie, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström, Vice-Minister for International Affairs of Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Tadao Yanase and State Secretary of Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade Derham joined the discussion.

Wang Shouwen pointed out that an open China has provided important opportunities for the development of all countries in the world. The 19th CPC National Congress put forward the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects by 2020, which means the Chinese market, with a population of 1.4 billion, would import more products from all over the world. China's expansion of foreign investment attraction and outward investment has provided more chances for the capital and services of various countries to enter into China and promote local employment and development.

Wang said that China would hold the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in 2018 and Hongqiao International Trade Forum at the same time. This is the world’s first large-scale and import-themed expo and we welcome the participation of all countries and regions.

Wang stressed that the multilateral trading system is the important institutional guarantee for the global economic development and China sticks firmly to the validity and authority of the system and supports the positive results of the MC11. During the MC11, Minister of Commerce of China Zhong Shan attended the 6th China Round Table on the WTO “China Project” for the Least-developed Countries and jointly signed a memorandum of understanding on the 7th phase of the WTO “China Programme” and a memorandum of contribution to the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement Facility Trust Fund with the WTO Director-General Azevêdo. China also attended the breakfast meeting of investment facilitation and a joint ministerial statement on investment facilitation was passed. China will continue to strengthen cooperation with all WTO members via the platform of the WTO and promote the liberalization and facilitation of global trade and investment.

The business forum is an activity held by Argentina as the host country of the MC11, aiming to strengthen the communication and interaction between the public policy makers and that of the industry circle, improve the international economic and trade environment and consolidate the multilateral trade system’s status as the core of global economic governance.
